Free Tax Help for Seniors

Beginning February 6 through April 10, 2025, trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be providing free tax preparation services for the 2024 tax year.

How to Make an Appointment

Online Booking

Appointments open the last week of January. Visit AARP Tax-Aide to find a location near you and schedule your time. A friend or family member may book on your behalf if needed.

Phone Booking

If you can’t book online, call Alaska 211 for help making an appointment. If 211 is not accessible from your phone, call
1-800-478-2221. (This service will go live the last week of January.)

What to Bring

To ensure your appointment goes smoothly, please bring:

  • Current year tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, SSA statements, etc.)

  • Photo ID and Social Security Card for each taxpayer

  • Last year’s tax return

  • Bank account info for direct deposit

  • Both taxpayers (if filing jointly) — both must be present

  • Child care arrangements, as children cannot be brought to appointments

  • For prior year returns (up to 3 years back), schedule a separate appointment for each year

AARP Tax-Aide is open to all seniors and individuals with low to moderate incomes.

You do not need to be an AARP member to participate.
